Life Begins at 60!! Hello 2024.

2024 has certainly started off on a high...right where 2023 left off!

On Dec. 30, I played a new venue as the special guest of James Anthony. It was the Uptown Social House in Burlington, and man did we hit the mark!! The room was packed and the vibe was happening. I've now been booked to return on March 30! A good way to end the year!

To start 2024, on January 3, I attended the Schnitzel Gang's first luncheon of the year! This is a great group of Legendary Toronto musical 'A listers', who, lucky for me, include me in their invites. We convened at Peter's On Eglinton for an amazing lunch and better hang. So many stories shared and friendships brought up to date!

Below are several pics of our special meeting.

Moving ahead in 2024, I've got more gigs coming to new venues!

On March 10, I'll be joining James Anthony at The Firehall in Oakville. It's always a blast playing new venues and James is a super talented musician and a true blues pickin' man. This should be a fun night.

My Timothy's shows with, The Sunday Sinners, is now moving to the 2nd Sunday of each month, while I'm going to be shifting my Saturdays at The Carrigan Arms to the 3rd Saturday starting in Feb. The Trio, with Matt Horner and Gary Taylor, however, will be back at The Carrigan in January on the 6th.

The Trio will also be returning to our fave Brampton spot, Dum Dum's! This place is a total throwback that can't help but leave a smile on your face. Great people, great vibe, and loads of fun mixed with music appreciation. Perfect!

What else? Oh ya! Thursdays with Theodore at Merk will continue on the 3rd Thursday of every month. A little Solo Acoustic Mayhem is what you can expect at Hamilton's coolest and hippiest tapas bar!

Wrapping up the gigs list, THC - The Theodore Horner Combo are back at The Legendary Canadiana every Sunday from 1-4pm. Why Legendary? This wildly fun, modest room has a grand history of live Sunday music, including such artists as Chuck Jackson, Michael Fonfara, Virgil Scott and George Olliver! I'm pretty chuffed that Matt and I get to do our thing there every week!

The new year is also percolating some new creative ideas.

In my hometown of Hamilton, (Crown Point area to be exact) I've teamed up with a few bar owners and businesses to start up a new local festival called, The Folk n' Spoken Word Fest! We plan to put together a 1 day event which will feature 3 venues hosting live acts made up of folk music artists and spoken word artists. The event is set to have an opening night gala, followed by a day of performances, ending in a live open jam to close off the evening. We're hoping to make this happen in June....stay tuned!

And as for projects...another one I'm working on is a Springsteen tribute. This won't be a full band, copy every song to the note type of thing, but rather a tribute to the early songwriting of this prolific troubadour. Using a small 3 piece band, I'll be focusing on songs from 1973 - 1985, with a few possible exceptions! I plan to include stories and histories about some songs, as well as the impact and inspiration I've received from others. The idea for this show came before COVID. I'm really excited that the time is right to bring it alive now!

So as I'm writing this, I'm realizing that I've got a lot going on! Pretty cool. I'll be turning 60 in May. Maybe life begins at 60, or 60 is the new 40!! Either way. I'm very fortunate and ready to go.

See

See you out there, somewhere, some time.

Peace
