ABOUT MICHAEL THEODORE
Born in Montreal, Michael Theodore began his music career at a very young age, making his first television appearance on a local TV show at the tender age of 4! He was instantly bit by the ‘show biz’ bug!!
At 14, Michael was thrilled to get his first guitar. Deeply moved by the music and message of artists like, The Beatles and Bruce Springsteen, he immediately began writing songs. Later, while studying Theatre Arts at John Abbott College, Michael developed his vocal strength through opera and choral training while growing evermore confident in front of an audience. These early experiences helped form the foundation and style of the type of performer he was destined to become: an intense and introspective songsmith with a dynamic and energetic stage presence!
In the late ‘90’s, Michael’s thoughtful and catchy tunes, along with his wit and charm earned him a publishing deal with Toronto’s Munition Factory, a division of Cherry Beach Studios, where his raucous anthem, ‘Stand Up Tall’, was recorded by award winning producer Lance Anderson.
In 2003, working with Moody Blues producer Don Garbutt, Michael released his debut indie CD, ‘The Truth About Love And Tragedy’, which demonstrated the diverse development of Michael’s songwriting abilities. Combining soft ballads with heavy guitar riffs and passionate sax, the album has sold over 2500 copies and continues to sell at Michael’s more than 100+ yearly shows.
For his second CD, 'Leaving Familiar', Michael formed the group, SOS, featuring such notable artists as Rob Gusevs, Gary Taylor, Tom Griffiths and Wayne DeAdder. Also performing on the CD are sax virtuoso John Johnson, multiple award winning trumpeter Kevin Turcotte and the talented Gord Myers on trombone. The CD was Co-Produced by two time Juno Nominee, Johnny Max, mixed/mastered by the legendary Nick Blagona and was officially released at Toronto's renowned Hugh's Room to rave reviews!!
An award winning singer/songwriter, Michael Theodore has carved a name for himself as an energetic, enthusiastic entertainer as well as an extraordinary ‘crowd pleaser’. He has also developed into a prolific songwriter who can take his audience on a journey through soul-searching heartache or craft a story about hope, optimism and life experiences. The ‘top honours’ placing, in The Indie International Songwriting Contest, of his reflective song, ‘In Stride’, and the 2nd Place finish of 'Leaving Familiar', in the same contest, is further testimony to his undeniable writing talent. 'Leaving Familiar' was also a finalist in the well respected and highly regarded International Songwriting Competition!! What seems to be 'familiar' for Michael is his evergrowing popularity combined with the ongoing recognition of his songwriting abilities!
Michael is currently in the planning stages of putting together a compilation of songs, videos and pictures covering work from the past 20 years which will be made available on a USB drive sometime soon!

SOS
Formed in 2012 for the recording of the CD, 'Leaving Familiar', Michael brought together a group of musicians whose track record for excellence is matched only by the friendship shared between them. Rob Gusevs (The Arrows, The Sisters Euclid, Johnny Max Band) provides supberb piano and organ dexterity combined with a unique laid back style. Gary Taylor (Sisters Euclid, Ian Thomas) drums with so much feel and imagination that he brings percussion to life in a way seldom heard anywhere. Tom Grffiths (Dan Hill, Corey Hart, Cameo Blues Band) rounds out the rythym section with bass grooves and fretless finesse that allows the music to breath and move along  in a most natural way. Finally, Wayne "Shifty" DeAdder (Jimmy Bowskill, Big Dadddy G, Johnny Max Band)  gives the guitar guts on every track with a smoothness to his picking and strumming that seems to marry the styles of Keith Richards and Robbie Robertson!
