Alert - Loads of Great Pics!!

The past few weeks have provided me with a few firsts, some exciting encounters, and a farewell.

All in the line of duty, I guess.

The inaugural Folk n Spoken Word Fest was a huge success. This was my first attempt at being the Artistic Director of such an event and although there were a few learning curves along the way, the challenge was met with what was a great response from all who participated and attended. Our Opening Gala featured award winning spoken word artist Dwayne Morgan and Juno winning recording star Suzie McNeil! Our full day of entertainment was matched equally with several published and polished spoken word poets and more award winning musicians. Closing the night off was Hamilton's own Juno winner, Tomi Swick!!

Next, it was a celebratory Canada Day weekend with a couple of Canadian veteran rockers popping into The Canadiana. Both Kevin Hearn, from The Barenaked Ladies, and Bucky Berger from Chilliwack and Rough Trade made it all a little more Canadian! Later that week, I was in Wasaga Beach with The Freakin' Band when none other than Canadian music legend, Keith Hampshire shows up! The Red and White was flying high!

I also debuted what I hope will become a regular theatre show. Greetings From Asbury Park NJ - Celebrating Springsteen : Unplugged, with Matt Horner and Gene Hardy, was performed to a near sell out crowd at the amazing Moonshine Cafe. There has already been some awesome sounding video shared on Facebook of some of the highlights. I couldn't be happier with our first go around of this show. We all put a lot of work into presenting these wonderful songs and people were well pleased! Thank you.

Sadly, we said goodbye to our long time Sunday Sinners drummer, Charlie Cooley. It's been such a pleasure to have been able to have him backing the band over the past several years. He is one of the best around and we'll surely miss him. The band and I certainly wish him and his wife, Tash, all the best on their new adventure out East. Home Sweet Home!

So, now it's back to the grindstone. This stuff doesn't make itself up, you know! ;)) I've got to schedule it, perform it and then tell you all about it! I'm loving the journey and I'm so happy that you've chosen to join me for part of it.

Hope to see you out there sometime, somewhere. Be sure to check my listing on my home page.

Peace!
