Going Live - Keeping Safe
Well as most people around Southern Ontario are aware, Stage 3 is now in effect. Which means that live music is back at some of the great venues that have been supporting music for years. Included on that list are Timothy's Pub, The Carrigan Arms, The Beacon and The Moonshine Cafe.
I'm pleased to announce that I will performing at all these venues over the next few weeks in different capacities. The Sunday Sinners will be returning to Timothy's Pub as a trio (for now) on the 3rd Sunday of every month starting on August 16 from 4 - 7pm. The trio will feature myself along with Matt Horner and Charlie Cooley. Timothy's is located at 344 Browns Line.
I'm also excited to be starting a new weekly stint at The Moonshine Cafe (137 Kerr St. in Oakville) with The Theodore Horner Combo - "THC". The first show at this great venue will be on Thursday, August 13 from 9 - 11pm.
Another monthly show will be starting at The Carrigan Arms with The Saturday Afternoon Bandstand featuring Matt Horner, Dave Russell, Garth Vogan and Larry Bodner. The Carrigan is a super fun room that features a different guest every Saturday. I'll be the Special House Guest on the 2nd Saturday of every month from 2:30 - 6pm starting on Sept. 12. This one is great for the West Enders as it's located at 2025 Upper Middle Rd. In Burlington.
Last but not least...on Wednesday, August 12th I'll be back at The Beacon in Wasaga Beach with The Freakin' Band! Ahhh, Summer in Wasaga! Can't be beat. The show starts at 8 with our
venerable host Virgil Scott. 146 45th St is where you'll find The Beacon!
All these venues have a cover/band charge. Some people feel there is gouge going on here but please remember, these places have struggled to stay afloat and have supported live music for years!! These rooms have spared no expense at getting their safety standards up to par to satisfy government guidelines around COVID. A $5 or $10 charge to feel safe ad enjoy live music is hardly a gouge.
Let's make this work. Help the bars...help the musicians...and stay safe!
