What Happened, Summer??
I guess I have to be real about things. This past weekend was Labour Day which, technically, is considered the unofficial end of Summer. Insert sad face here!!!!
Looking back it was quite a busy one; full of travel, family, writing and some great gigs. Also managed to do some reading here and there.
Some golf with music buddies at Rice Lake was the kick start to it all. Then 10 days in Costa Rica really got the traveling ball rolling in early July. What a beautiful country full of wonderful people, great food and majestic vistas!
Short visits to Montreal and Clear Lake provided plenty of family time. Sharing an AirBnB with my siblings in Old Montreal was a real hi-lite for me, as well.
A visit with songwriting genius Dean McTaggart added to the writing part. In fact, I'll be heading into Canterbury Studios with Charlie Cooley, Wayne Deadder, Brigham Phillips and Tom Griffiths to record to some new tunes this Fall!
Then there were the gigs!! WOW - what a blast. Guest spots with Virgil Scott and The Freakin' Band at The Beacon in Wasaga Beach, The Essentials at Southside Johnny's and The Meteors at Timothy's Pub were all great gigs with super crowds that love live music and talented musicians that I feel incredibly lucky to know and play with. My regular gigs were also full of fun! Asher Horowitz continues to do his magic with our power acoustic duo, 'Expect The Unexpected' at Ernie's Roadhouse in Cambridge. The last Thursday of the month finds me doing some Solo Acoustic Mayhem at MERK Snack Bar in Hamilton and The Sunday Sinners with Matt Horner, Charlie Cooley and Gene Hardy continue to provide some good times at Timothy's Pub on the 3rd Sunday of every month!
I'll be introducing 2 new bands this Fall, as well. On November 23, The Random Band featuring Asher Horowiz, Tom Griffiths, Gary Taylor and myself will make it's debut at the above mentioned Ernie's Roadhouse. While on October 5 I'll be starting a matinee at Dakota's Sports Bar and Grill with Michael Theodore & What's Happening? featuring Brigham Phillips, Gene Hardy and Charlie Cooley. The band will be playing the first Saturday of every month from 3-7pm.
On Novemebr 2, The 4 Piece Trio will reunite for the Annual Cancer Fundraiser at The Rangers Club in Bramalea. Yes, ladies, Walter E. Lee will be there!!!
Well... there you have it - A busy Summer comes to an end and gives way to a busy Fall. I wouldn't have it any other way!
See you somewhere, sometime.
